dpa/GNA– Ten individuals consisting of a law enforcement officer were eliminated on Monday in a mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, a city near the Rocky Mountains in northern Colorado, regional authorities stated.
Boulder Police chief Maris Herold stated that the officer, called as 51-year-old Eric Talley, was among the very first responders at the scene. She called his actions “heroic.”
Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated that the supposed shooter was hurt and in custody.
Herold stated that authorities started getting calls about shots fired and a call about an individual with a “patrol rifle” at around 2:30 pm (2030 GMT), Talley was among the very first officers at the scene and was “fatally shot.”
“This is a very complex investigation that will take no less than five days to complete,” Herold stated in an interview.
CNN pointed out an unnamed senior police source as stating that the weapon utilized in the shooting was an AR-15-style rifle.
Police stated that the names of the victims would not be launched up until their households are informed.
The Boulder Police Department tweeted an alert about an “active shooter” at a supermarket at around 2:50 pm (2050GMT).
Police stated officers came to the scene “within minutes” of getting a 911 call and went into structure “very quickly.”
