The Governing Council of the University of Lagos, at its conference on Monday, May 31, 2021, authorized the instant termination ofDr Boniface Igbeneghu of the Department of European Languages and Integration Studies, Faculty of Arts andDr Samuel Omoniyi Oladipo of the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, from the services of the University.

Council, at its conference, thought about the Report and findings of the Senate Committee established to examine accusations of unwanted sexual advances levelled versus them in a British Broadcasting Corporation (this medium World Service Investigative Series entitled AFRICA EYE (which centred on unwanted sexual advances in tertiary organizations.

The Council subsequently chose and authorized that bothDr Boniface Igbeneghu andDr Samuel Omoniyi Oladipo be dismissed from the services of the University for misbehavior, with impact from Monday, May 31, 2021 in line with area 18 of the University of Lagos Act 1967.

Council even more directed that the Management must examine the Sexual harassment Policy as might be needed and institute reliable techniques to avoid future incident.
